BUTLER MURDER TRIALS SET FOR DECEMBER

(08/26/2008)
Trials for individuals charged in the murder of Brent Wilson Butler have been continued to December.

Butler, 33, was killed in February, 2008 in Shear's Trailer Park near Elizabeth.

Howard "Kenny" Murray and Corey Robinson had been set to go to trial on August 18, but the cases have now been continued because of a delayed report from the State Medical Examiner's office.

Oscar Gibson, another person charged in the murder case, is still set for trial in December.

All three have been charged with first degree murder.

Butler died from a stab wound to his leg.

A police press release said Butler "was dead at the scene when emergency medical technicians arrived and was resuscitated before he was taken to Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital."

State Police said they believe Butler was at his residence when his spouse returned with a friend of Butler's. The friend entered the residence and said they had been followed and his wife was still in the vehicle in the driveway.

Butler allegedly confronted the group of three or four individuals who followed his wife and friend.

A dispute ensued resulting in Butler being stabbed with a sharp object in his upper leg.

The individuals who followed Butler's wife and friend home left the area before law enforcement arrived.
