Gay Park, Eva G. Pennington, Charles Russell, Alvin & Nancy Engelke from the Burning Springs church were among the 57 who went to North Bend State Park for a joint service and picnic with the Bell Chapel & New Home churches. Everyone reported a good time and there was plenty of delicious food. Rev. Carlos "Skinny" Nutter brought the message.

The first Creston auction of the season will be Saturday, September 6, starting at 6 P. M. at the Community Building.

Robert Hall, age 90, of Somerville Fork passed away. A retired state road employee and life long farmer he had friends and acquaintances all over. He was one of those who participated in the Normandy invasion.

The Brent Butler murder trial was laid over until a later term of court. Local residents still wonder why the others involved in his death are being protected and not charged with the crime.

It was noted that the last couple of weeks have been the best haymaking weather seen in this area for some time. Jack dePue put up some fine second cutting. It was understood that the Shriner's ATV Poker run will be on September 6.

The Wirt road crew was in the area mowing the grass along Route 5. Another county, following the guidelines of "core maintenance" had to use an end loader to gather up what was pulled from the ditch on a gravel/dirt road. As a result all the lose stone/gravel was gathered up and dumped over the hill. Of course the Big Boss, now sometimes known as MoJo won't have to drive on that roadway this winter.

Speaking of winter frost has already been reported in Wisconsin & Minnesota in spite of Algore's so called "global warming" and katydids have been singing for weeks.

Elizabeth & Angie Adams, Nancy & Alvin Engelke attended Jack & Donna Boley's picnic on the Ohio River above Friendly. At the meal were gubernatorial candidate, Russ Weeks, Supreme Court candidate Beth Walker, Commissioner of Agriculture candidate Mike Teets, Attorney General candidate Dan Greear, and Secretary of State candidate Charles Minimah as wall as local candidates, etc.

While Congresswoman Shelly Moore Capito toured Wirt County oil production it was learned that Wirt native John Doty flew presidential candidate John McCain out to tour an offshore drilling and production platform. Needless to say his parents were very excited.

As a result of lobbying by PETA and other "animal rights" organizations the bottom dropped out of the fur market and trapping has dropped off to almost nothing. As a result there has been an explosion in the 'coon population resulting in rabies outbreaks all the way from W. Va. to upstate New York. Friday night 'coons caught, killed and partially ate Lilly, the office cat, and Shopper, the shop cat, at the Engelke residence on the Richardsonville road. The raccoons made a serious mistake, if one knows what I mean.

CDX has started acquiring leases in Wirt and Wood Counties. They have net leases and allow the company to charge $1/mmbtu against the royalty which would mean if gas prices fell to 80 cents again the mineral owners would have to pay to have their gas produced. It was understood that Chesapeake paid a bonus of $3000/acre in Marshall County for some leases.

The price of local Penn grade crude fell $6.50/bbl to $107.75/bbl. and, for a time at least, gasoline in Parkersburg could be purchased for under $3.50/gallon.

Politicking has been much in the air in Creston as elsewhere with the interest drawn to the scene in Denver with the proposed riots, Bill & Hill's special nights, etc. Barry Hussein commented on how impressed he was on how they do things in Communist China where one of his half brothers lives. He also emphasized the importance of redistribution of wealth taking from those who work to give to those who elect not to. He lives in a mansion and, it turns out, he has another half brother who lives in a hut in a jungle slum in Kenya on less than $1/month. Their pappy was in Jomo Kenyatta's government. Kenyatta ran the Mau Mau terrorist group slaughtering "enemies" until he became the government.

This is the last week to file farm use reports.

Local residents have been assigned their 911 addresses so that whenever big brother wants to find someone they can be picked up very easily just like when Hitler, a charismatic leader who promised "change," rounded up the Jews and sent them, unarmed, to the gas chambers and the concentration camps. It should be no real mystery why the "progressives" want to repeal the second amendment. Of course 911 addressing is only for "good things" and the local correspondent has some valuable ocean front property for sale in Spring Valley.

Rodney Lynch and Alvin Engelke represented the Creston Community at the Wirt County Commission meeting when the state trails coordinator came to talk about the establishment of ATV trails in Wirt County. He started off his presentation about all the things one could not do and what didn't qualify for state participation for economic development. It should be noted that the 60 proposed jobs in Marshall County will each cost the taxpayers of W. Va. $3.3 million in tax breaks for the company. This is called "being open for business" with everyone else picking up the tab for the select of the elect. That will assure that W. Va. remains #50 at the bottom of the barrel.
