Born in Calhoun County, he was a son of the late Rufus and Mary Ellen Adams Kerby. Surviving are his sister, Eula Nelson of Vienna, WV; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Kerby of Parkersburg and Patricia Kerby of Spencer, WV; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Hathaway Kirby: and five brothers, Victor, Delbert, Forest, Boyd and Wilbert Kerby.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 27 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Rev. Davis Carpenter will officiate. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery at Grantsville with Masonic Graveside Rites. The family will appreciate contributions made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Lexington - 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, Kentucky 40502.
