THIEVES STEAL $17,500 IN WELL EQUIPMENT - B & E's Reported In County

A heist of about $17,500 of equipment has been stolen from a Calhoun drilling rig site, according to the Calhoun Sheriff's Department.

Clowser Well Service of Salem is reporting the theft of power tongs, a depth meter and a water pump from am operation where the company is drilling for Francis Cain.

The theft of the equipment happened on or about August 7th, likely during the early morning hours.

Deputy Sheriff J. D. Smith said the well site is located on Katie's Run.

A breaking and entering of property belonging to Harry and Susan Ernst on a fork of Barnes Run was reported on August 7th, according to Deputy Smith.

Thieves took a number of guns owned by the occupant of the property, including a new England .223 single shot, a Remington 1187 12 gage, a Marlin .22 rifle, a 40 caliber pistol, a socket kit and a 18-volt drill.
