GOOD NEIGHBOR'S BRAKES FAIL, WINDOW BREAKS - Speedy Mart Checks In Deer And A Vehicle

(11/30/2001)
Submitted by Ann Onymous

Thursday afternoon Mike Flanagan decided to do his neighbor, Leonard Marks a favor and transport him to Speedy Mart to check in a beautiful 10 point buck Mr. Marks had shot.

It seems Mr. Flanagan had brake trouble on the way, his brakes started to fail coming down the hill on Left Fork Creek Road, but Mike managed to stop the vehicle a little past the Poling residence. Mr. Poling offered up some brake fluid, and off Mike and Leonard went to Speedy Mart, brakes working fine all the way.... until it came time to stop in front of the store.

Well, anyone who has been to the store since is aware of the broken window, a result of Mike's failed brakes!

Deputy Balangee was on the scene shortly thereafter, taking statements and insurance information. Mike was very impressed with the Calhoun Sheriff's Officer, even though he is rather embarrassed about the entire episode.

Unfortunately for Mike, he happened upon a group of local hunters later in the afternoon, who showed him NO mercy. If anyone is looking for Mike tomorrow, he will be home, replacing brake lines.
