Charlie Sampson of Mt. Zion became one of dozens of victims of near-misses, collisions or crashes with the local deer population. Sampson sustained some injuries early Wednesday morning when he struck the road bank trying to miss the animals. His pick-up truck was severely damaged. The accident occurred on Barnes Run, about two miles from the Mt. Zion Church and Route 16.

Sampson was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center by Calhoun EMS for treatment of what appeared to be minor injuries. The Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department also responded.
