| Grantsville Police Chief Charles Stephens has issued the following Department report for May and June 2008. MAY 2008 - The department investigated 11 criminal cases, 1 traffic crash, and 2 city ordinance violations (junk in yard and littering.) Officers made 29 traffic stops, issuing 22 warnings and 7 citations. The department had 46 calls for service, made 59 citizens contacts, and made 4 arrests (*) * Possession of marijuana-less than 15 grams, obstructing an officer * Reckless driving, possession of marijuana-less than 15 grams, the arrest resulted in recovering a stolen vehicle from Gilmer County * Driving under the influence * Possession of marijuana-less than 15 grams JUNE 2008 - The department investigated 5 criminal cases, and 2 traffic crashes. Officers made 29 traffic stops, issuing 24 warnings and 4 citations. The department had 38 calls for service, made 35 citizens contacts, and made 2 arrests (*) * Summons issued for 2 counts of assault * Public intoxication A commendation was issued to Officer Jeff Starcher for single-handedly recovering a stolen vehicle from Gilmer County on May 22, 2008. In addition to facing 3 misdemeanor charges in Calhoun County related to the incident, the suspect is now facing 3 felony counts in Gilmer County related to the stolen vehicle because of Officer Starcher's actions.
