George Shannon Ziegler, Jr. 72 - Clover

George Shannon Ziegler, Jr. 72, of Clover, West Virginia, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, in the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, after a long illness.

He was born July 10, 1935, at Lansdowne, MD, a son of the late George S. and Grace Flater Ziegler, Sr.

A retired Senior Chief Petty Officer, U.S. Coast Guard; Baltimore City Maryland Fire Department, firefighter, EMT and fire boat pilot; he had been a Roane County resident since 1976.

George enjoyed many and varied interests including woodworking, mechanics, clocks, reading and history. A member of Linden Lodge No. 83, A.F. & A.M., 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Shriner and Past Worthy Patron of the Wetzel Chapter No. 27, O.E.S., he especially enjoyed the camaraderie and parading the Beni Kedem Oriental Band for many years.

George is sadly missed and loved by family, his wit and endless humor and stories will be missed by many.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Judith "Judi"; son, Willie E. and Lori King of Buena Vista, PA; daughters and son-in-law, Sandi and John Pepe of Oxford, MD and Kimberly Ziegler of Pasadena, MD; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Barbara Ziegler of Berkeley Springs; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret "Joan" and Mack McGovern of Woodstock, MD.

George has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
