Welcome back to Beason. We're glad you stopped by.

An "Assembly of Friends", otherwise known as "Kathy's Blackberry Cobbler Appreciation Club" had a meeting on July 4th. Somehow, I pulled it off in spite of the rain. Tents and camp chairs were set up everywhere and resembled Woodstock.

Unlike Woodstock, there were no dangers of having to explain the difference between smoking and inhaling. We'll let Bill C. keep working on that one. I don't allow any natural medicine, Tylenol only for those after-meeting effects. Anyway, all the guests had a real good time. It's funny how fireworks can transform adults into 7 year olds.

Everyone was on their best behavior so no one had to be drug through cow poop with a 4 wheeler. To all those who pansy-ed out because of the rain, you missed a fun event. I can't believe people would think I would cancel my shindig because of endless, soaking rain. I spent way too much time baking and shoving skewers up shrimp rear ends. For the first time in 7 years on Beason, I had the best party here. Of course, my party was the only one being held, but I would like to go ahead and say mine was the best.

A secret informant has revealed to my complaint department that there are issues with the utilities' companies' hours of operation. It seems that often it is impossible to personally discuss problems with the companies without taking time off from work. In this day and age, who can do that? Anyway, it has been suggested (among a whole list of painful suggestions) that perhaps these companies could stay open and hour or two later one day a week. After all, the working people are the ones keeping you in business.

Chrystal, Ericka and I would like to thank everyone who stopped at our yard sale. I don't think we realized how much stuff we had accumulated over the years. I think we have something for everyone out in the front of our shop. If we don't, we'd bet that it's in a box in our basement. We plan to do it again next week.

Congratulations to Mercedes Furr and her ball team on their big win. We are so proud of you!

Junior Taylor has been visiting St. Joseph's Hospital a couple of times a week for his dialysis. He will be having another surgery on July 24 to put his spare parts in place. Hopefully, he can return to home dialysis soon.

You will be happy to know all the wallpaper finally came off our bathroom. We were using a chemical from the hardware store to remove it. In order for you to save time and money, use vinegar. It makes the job much more pleasant. By the time you have broken all your nails, you are definitely not the same person as when you started the job. You have been transformed into a total monster. Anyway, it is painted a country red and looks really nice. Now, if Avery could hit the bowl and not the wall, perhaps the paint will continue to look nice. Sometimes I think Avery goes to the bathroom with his eyes closed and just hopes for the best. Well, his aim is going to improve immensely or he will find himself using a natural facility. With my luck, his facility of choice will be right in front of the door.

The big discussion here lately has been the many uses of lightning bugs. I have been told that some had used squashed lightning bugs in order to create glowing face paint or pretend jewelry. I will give them five stars for their creativity, but also five stars for just the sheer fact that is nasty. I remember as a child catching lightning bugs and putting them in jar. I'd put them beside the bed with the hopes of a natural night light. In the morning, I would find them flat on their back and dead. But, at least I didn't squash them.

My song pick of the week is, "Me and Charlie Talking" by Miranda Lambert. Its one of those songs that takes you back and leaves you with a smile.
