GILMER REACHES RELAY FOR LIFE GOAL $40,000

Members of the GSC Stars of Hope take a lap at the track at Morris Stadium during 2008 Gilmer County Relay for Life The 2008 Gilmer County Relay for Life, sponsored by the American Cancer Society took place on Saturday, June 28th at Morris Stadium on the campus of Glenville State College. Afternoon rain storms interrupted and eventually shortened the event by three hours. Still, the Gilmer County Relay for Life reached its goal by collecting over $41,000. "Surpassing our goal, even though the event was crippled by the weather, is a testament to the caring and generosity of the entire Gilmer County community," said Kipp Colvin, Activities Director for the Gilmer County Relay for Life. Colvin will be the Chairperson for next year's event. Thirty-six members of the Stars of Hope, the Glenville State College Relay for Life Team, raised $3,399.67.
