Officer Barnhart

Calhoun native William Clayton Barnhart graduated June 26 from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries Training Academy, having enrolled in their Basic Law Enforcement Course.

Barnhart, a Calhoun High School graduate, has been assigned to Smith Mountain Lake and surrounding areas of Franklin County, Virginia.

In addition to his classroom courses, some of his training included boating, cycling, defensive tactics, driver training, hunting investigations, physical fitness, firearms, officer survival, special operations and tracking.

Attending his graduation in Richmond were his parents Steve and Faye Barnhart, sister Mandy Hicks, niece Lacy Jo Hicks and fiancé Erin Smith.
