Betty Jean Ritchie, 79 - Big Springs

Betty Jean Ritchie, 79, of Big Springs, West Virginia passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Audra L. and Ollie Ellen (Hopkins) Wilson and was a member of Prosperity Baptist Church. She had worked at both Spencer Sate and Calhoun General Hospitals as a nurse's aide and was retired from the Mid Ohio Valley Health Department as a Home Health nurse aide.

She is survived by three sons, Mike (Teresa) Ritchie, Calvin (Bette Lea) Ritchie, all of Big Springs, and Doug Ritchie of Smithville, WV; two daughters, Connie Shaffer of Ripley, WV and Jane Friedmann of Alum Bridge, WV; two brothers, Bill and Brad Wilson, both of Big Springs; 14 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Ritchie; a brother, Calvin Wilson; a daughter-in-law, Linza Ritchie; one grandchild and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 1st at Prosperity Baptist Church at Big Springs. Rev. Ken Heiney will officiate. Interment will be in the Saunders Cemetery.

Friends may call at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
