USDA Resources include assistance for rural housing, community facilities, and businesses

Agriculture Under Secretary for Rural Development Thomas C. Dorr announced yesterday that funding is available to individuals, and organizations, recently hit by natural disasters in several states and in the Midwest.

In West Virginia, nine counties can apply for assistance through FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA and USDA Rural Development at 1-800-295-8228.

As part of the Disaster Declaration, individual assistance is available to flood victims of Barbour, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Marion, Taylor and Tyler Counties.

Several counties also qualified for public assistance to help with repairs to roads and other public facilities - namely, Barbour, Clay, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Marion and Taylor Counties.

The USDA is encouraging residents and business owners to immediately apply for funding to help them begin their recovery from these devastating storms.
