Thieves took cigarettes and over-the-counter medications, some often associated with meth making, during a breaking and entering at a Chloe store early yesterday.

The culprits broke two windows and entered the Chloe Auto and Hardware, also a general store, likely after midnight Monday.

The store is located along Rt. 16, just south of the Chloe Post Office.

Owner John Rose said he is missing lots of cigarettes and medications, but is still taking inventory.

"This kind of incident makes it really hard on us," Rose said.

The culprits took the store's supply of cough medicine, Sudafed, Benadryl, Maalox and other over the counter drugs.

Rose said he discovered the breaking and entering when he came to work at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

He said another attempt to break into the store happened last Friday before 2 a.m., but the thieves apparently gave up on their effort.

Rose said this was his fourth breaking and entering since he purchased the business about eight years ago.

In another incident, the driver of a Pepsi delivery truck reported items stolen from his vehicle while he was doing business inside Clay's Go-Mart.

Any person with information, leads or tips regarding the Chloe incident should call the Grantsville State Police.
