STOLEN CALHOUN ATVS FOUND IN WOOD COUNTY

(06/21/2008)
ATVs stolen from Calhoun County have been recovered in Wood County, according to Sgt. David West of the Wood County Sheriff's Department.

The ATVs had been stolen in Calhoun over the past month or so.

Deputies started chasing individuals on two ATVs on Rt. 2 North during early morning hours, after which one ATV crashed and another was abandoned behind a church, said Sgt. West.

He said the individuals were then picked-up by a driver in a car.

One of the ATVs has been returned to its Calhoun owner.

West said the department's investigation is continuing regarding the stolen ATVs.

Sgt. Jeff Skidmore of the Grantsville State Police told the Herald a few weeks ago that about ten ATVs had been stolen, part of a rash of property crimes occurring in the county.

Grantsville State Police have not released public information regarding the incidents.
