RETIREES AND VETS FAIL TO CLAIM STIMULUS CHECKS

(06/21/2008)
Nearly 50,000 West Virginia residents may miss out on the stimulus benefits being issued citizens.

A list generated by IRS indicates 211 Calhoun and 208 Gilmer retirees and veterans that are eligible have not filed.

Many of the people who have not claimed the checks do not normally have to file tax returns, because they get Social Security or Veterans Affairs benefits.

If you have not filed you return, you have until October 15th to do so.

The IRS says it plans to send letters later this summer, to eligible people who have not yet filed.
