BRAXTON MAN SETS TENT ON FIRE TO BURN FAMILY MEMBERS

Police in Braxton County say a man tried to kill members of his family by setting their tent on fire at a campground. Authorities say Tony Franklin Burdette and four family members were camping Sunday night near Sutton Lake at the Gerald Freeman Campground. Burdette's ex-mother-in-law was sent to the hospital with second-degree burns, but she has been treated and released. Three grandchildren in the tent were not seriously hurt. Police arrested Burdette Tuesday at his mother's house. He is currently in Central Regional Jail, charged with attempted murder and arson.
