CALHOUN'S YOUTH WRESTLERS COMPETE IN RENO, NEVADA

(06/07/2008)
By Kristie Ritchie

Calhoun Youth Wrestlers represented the state of West Virginia at the Reno Nationals April 4th-6th.

With over 3,000 wrestlers in attendance from all over the United States, competition was tough, it literally was the "best of the best".

Calhoun's Allen Metheney was able to pull out a hard fought win to clinch the 5th place title. Other wrestlers competing were: Cole Ritchie, Casey Ritchie, Houstin McCune, Dalton McCune, Austin Metheney, Briar Metheney, Jordan Hildreth, Jerrod Hildreth, and Dakota Delaney.

Dalton McCune has a match featured on flowrestling.com from the Reno tournament.

Calhoun Youth Wrestlers, Coaches and parents would like to thank the community for their continued support of this program.

Calhoun wrestling parents, or as the coach likes to refer to them as the "Fab 5." worked day and night for two weeks to raise the money for the tournament.

Those dedicated women sold homemade sausage biscuits, pumpkin rolls, donuts, raffle tickets, and asked businesses for donations, sold candles and Mary Kay products.

Coach Ritchie would like to express his gratitude and appreciation to these hard working ladies without them the trip would not have been possible.
