Earline Dale "Bud" Wears, 65 - Marietta

Earline Dale "Bud" Wears, 65, of Greenhill Road, Marietta, passed away at his home at 8:15 p.m. on June 5, 2008.

He was born on October 10, 1942, in Orma, W. Va., a son of Everette Wears and Beatrice Carpenter Wears. He had owned D & W Welding and Fabrication of Coolville and was later employed at Vadakin, Inc.

He was a member of American Legion, Loyal Order of Moose, Loyal Order of Eagles and was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. He built and raced semi-late model stockcars and enjoyed line dancing.

On February 18, 1964, he married Patty Lou Wilcox, who preceded him in death on February 12, 2001.

Bud is survived by 1 son and 2 daughters, Shane (Jennifer) Wears of Cutler, Tonya (Robert) Kirkpatrick of Raleigh, N.C., Diana (Joseph) Pinkerton of Marietta; 6 grandchildren, Jollianna, Erin, and Nicole Kirkpatrick, Courtney Wears, Jeremy Pinkerton, Autumn (Drew) Garrod. On May 2, 2008, he married Frances K. Meredith, who survives with 1 stepson and 1 stepdaughter, Michael Hooper of Parkersburg and Melissa Stover of Tenn.; 5 step-grandchildren, Amanda and Zack Hooper, Kyle, Brooklyn and Hayden Stover. He is also survived by 1 brother and 4 sisters, Carmen Wears of Butler, N.C., Geraldine (Bill) Skinner of Fla., Bernadine Underwood of Parkersburg, Pauline Cunningham of Parkersburg, Dinah Butler of N.C. and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Willie Franklin Butler, his first wife, Patty Lou and his sister, Phyllis Butler.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Donan officiating. Burial will be in Tunnel Cemetery with full military services. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with family present.
