GILMER FLOOD UPDATE - Special Needs, Where To Get Help

- Tetanus shots are being provided by the Gilmer County Health Department on Saturday June 7th from 8 a.m. to 12-noon and will continue during regular business hours on Monday. Residents are reminded that a tetanus shot should be taken every five years and a good thing to have when working with flooded materials.

- Residents with concerns about flooded water wells can contact the Gilmer County Health Department for assistance and instructions for treating a well and water testing. Please contact the Health Department office at (304) 462-7351 for further information.

- Beginning, Saturday June 7th, the WV National Guard will be providing debris cleanup of flood related items. Please place discarded items in an area close to the roadway. Crews from the guard will remove these items over the next few days. If you feel your debris has been missed please contact Ed Messenger, Gilmer County Emergency Services Director, email gcoes@rtol.net or call (304) 517-9715.

- Representatives from FEMA will arrive on Saturday June 7th and will begin interviewing flood victims at the Gilmer County Recreation Center. - Attention Farmers with field/hay damages: In an attempt to assist farmers with damages of hay, we are collecting information to submit to the Gilmer County Farm Service Agency. This information needs to be obtained by Tuesday, June 10 for submission to the Office of Gus Douglas, WV Department of Agriculture.
