GLENVILLE FLOOD WORSE THAN PREDICTED

Major rainfall has caused significant flooding in the Little Kanawha River Basin.

The crest was 32.16 feet at 9 a.m. this morning at Glenville, causing serious damage to the Glenville downtown business area, residential neighborhoods, other commercial operations and houses along the river in Gilmer County.

The crest near 32 feet compares to a previous crest of 31.3 feet in February 2000.

The record crest for Glenville was 36.46 feet in November 1985.
