CALHOUN'S ROCK 'N ROLL REUNION SATURDAY - Dixie Moon And Dangerfield On Wood Fest Main Stage

The Saturday night entertainment for the 46th Annual Calhoun County Wood Festival comes straight from the birth of rock n' roll in the mid-1960's at Calhoun County High School.

Remember the Cycos, Purple Haze, The BSA Band, The Light, Major Dangerfield, and others?

Saturday night's Rock-n-Roll Reunion will feature Dixie Moon on the main street stage and the music of the Beatles with Dangerfield.

First, there was the Cycos, a band that consisted of David and Roger Bush, Danny "Harry" Beall and Donnie Kimble.

Other bands in the beginning was Purple Haze with Rick Pitts, Butch "Boofer" Burch, Dick Bush and Jane Morris Carpenter.

The BSA band with Mike Wilson, Rick Godfrey, Dana Godfrey and Rick Poling. The Tonemasters with Arthur "Art" Bell, Allen Parsons and Alvin Parson. The Blue Light with Glenn McEndree, Art Bell and Lyle Kerby.

After the band scene started, members migrated from one band to another. And then the bands evolved.

The Cycos became Dangerfield with Dave and Roger Bush, Harry Beall and Rick Poling.

Later, there was Badgett, Beall and Bush with Greg Badgett, Harry Beall, Dave Bush and Roger Bush.

The BSA Band became the Nightriders with Mike Wilson, Dana Godfrey, Rick Godfrey, Eddie Hannah, Gary Wright, Joe Campbell and Donnie Kimble, not necessarily at the same time or in that order.

Somewhere in the mix was Stonefree with Mike Wilson, Larry Vaughn, Gary Wright and Eddie Hannah.

Rivendale with Mike Wilson, Cindy Bush, Harry Beall, Boofer Burch, Dave Thompson, Rick Godfrey, and Doug Whytsell.

Annamoriah with Rick Pitts, and a bunch of folks - Arthur Bell, Dick Bush, Cindy Bush, Pat Nayler, J.B. Butcher and others.

In the late 70's Big Money was derived from the Hard Times Band.

Big Money was Michael Lipton, Keith Lahti, Roger Bush, Bobby Vaughn, Dwayne McCormick and later Rick Magly with Jimmy Burrows doing sound and Jim Sullivan doing lights.

History will be revived when Dixie Moon plays this year at 7:45 p.m. this Saturday.

The members are Mike Wilson, Mary Alice Wilson, Boofer Burch, Rick Pitts, Rick Magly and J.B. Butcher.

Dangerfield will be playing at 9:30 p.m. featuring Roger Bush, Harry Beall, Rick Poling, Lyle Kerby and hopefully an appearance by David Bush, followed by a great fireworks display.
