DOMINION WORKERS BARELY APPROVE CONTRACT

(05/24/2008)
The Dominion Hope and Dominion Transmission contract has barely passed.

The United Gas Workers union members have apparently approved a new two year contract with the companies.

The new deal includes a 3.5 percent pay raise each year and is reportedly more favorable to workers when it comes to health care premiums.

The agreement comes after months of negotiations.

The workers contract expired on April 1st and since then they have been working under an extended contract.

All aspects of the contract, including the pay raise, will be retroactive to April 1.

The union represents about a thousand workers at Dominion Hope and Dominion Transmission.

Richmond, Virginia-based Dominion has been trying to sell Dominion Hope, which has about 115,000 West Virginia gas customers.

Dominion Transmission transports and stores natural gas in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Maryland and Virginia.
