The donation auction at the Creston Community Building will be held on Saturday June 7, starting at 6 P. M. Those wishing to donate items to the sale can contact any community member. Bobby Ray Starcher will bring down cheese, pepperoni and other goodies so local residents can lay in enough to tide them through the summer.

Rev. Carlos Nutter filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. church.

There was a good turnout for the Creston Area Neighborhood Watch clothing giveaway. There were lots of nice clean threads to choose from as well as goodies to consume while "shopping".

Cap'n Spock was among those having a professional consultation with Steve the Computer Guy at his Grantsville office. When Star Ship Command got word that Steve recognized the Starship Enterprise's vehicle ID number they immediately commissioned him to the rank of Cap'n and placed him in command of the Computer Maintenance & Upgrade Division.

Tara (The Comely Redhead) & family spent the night and the next day she & Hoss went four wheeling while Mamaw & Granddad watched the children. Then the next day Donna Sue, Carl, Amy, Grace, Andrea & Brandon visited while Stephen Settle visited his mother on Monday.

The local area continues to have rain with resultant mud and soft ground. While hay is ready to cut the tractors would mire in the mud even if the rain would hold off long enough for the grass to cure.

Richard McFall took Randy Tucker with him in his chariot to go out on his lease. There were some big mud holes and Randy suggested that perhaps he should drive as he was more acquainted with driving on dirt roads. Well, suffice it to say, Richard decided to use his pickup "to dig a ditch to bury a gas line".

He had to call for help which didn't make it on location for a few hours. Five minutes with a come along extricated him from his self-made mud hole. Then along came neighbor Dan Little who said, "Why didn't you come up to the house? I have a farm tractor and could have pulled you out."

It is understood that there has been a lot of razzing about city boys not knowing how to survive out in the country.

W. Harrison Schenerlein IV was visiting family and friends in Creston over the weekend. His father, the Big Reds wrestling coach was named first runner up nationwide in wrestling coach of the year.

Some local residents attended Winnie Murray's 90th birthday party at the old Kanawha Hotel in Elizabeth.

Local residents were among those who attended Dominion's meeting concerning the transportation of natural gas on their pipelines. DFS said one had to commit by July 1 to sign a contract that no one had seen to be assured of shipping rights for existing and future gas on the Dominion (Hope) lines. The fee would be 35 cents/dekatherm with a 10-cent management fee and the term would be for ten years. One would have to pay whether or not gas was sold and even though this "fee" is to assure no shut-ins, all gathering lines are subject to shut-in and even if wells were closed in, plugged and abandoned, the fee would still have to be paid. This sort of contract is said to be "A contract of adhesion."

One knowledgeable person there surmised that Dominion wanted the independent producers to pay for the upgrades they needed to take Rocky Mountain gas from the new REX (Rocky Mountain Express) gas line that soon will be completed into Pennsylvania. One older oil and gas man, whose family has been active for decades asked, "How does one define extortion?" Dominion is part of the Rockefeller family of companies.

Fees for the transportation of gas are set by FERC (the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) & presently 15% is charged by the pipeline to move the gas. This new fee is in addition and is called FT (Firm Transport) and is to "assure" no shut-ins if there is more gas than capacity in the transmission lines.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude rose $2.25 to $119.75/bbl.

Workmen from Miller Communications, Noe Office Equipment and Fanelli Boys were all in Creston trying to solve technical problems with somewhat limited success at substantial expense.

Tim Lynch was attending to business in Brooksville.

Amy N. Ferrell has a new puppy dog.

Alvin Engelke attended the meeting in Parkersburg for input on the state party platform. There was a lively discussion over various items but general agreement.

The big school up at Morgantown continues to be in the news with the president up there (a big buddy of the big boss) getting the fickle finger from the faculty. No doubt most teachers don't appreciate the "sale" of degrees to the connected. Some wonder how many more degrees Garrison & Company have handed out to Manchin family members & friends? The school's former main claim to fame was being the nation's #1 party school. Someone said, "At least W. Va. is not #50 on every list."

Some of the local candidates ended up Salt River without a paddle. However, they should be able to heal and move on with life. On the national level stink bombs continue to be thrown by both Her Thighness and B. Hussein O. Then they all got mad when the president gave a speech in Israel about appeasing tyrants and giving examples. Apparently the shoe fit, as some were irate that such things should be said. For a historical perspective one might read about the problems Nehemiah faced when he oversaw rebuilding Jerusalem's wall which would be the equivalent to the present circumstances.
