Rev. Rick Metheney and Von Yoak award scholarship to Michaela Yoak

The Calhoun County United Methodist Cooperative Parish recently awarded Calhoun High School Seniors Matthew Houchin a $500 scholarship and Michaela Yoak a $250 scholarship.

Matthew is the son of Jeff and Kelley Houchin. Michaela is the daughter of Randy and Tammy Yoak.

This is the eighth year the Parish has awarded such scholarships based on church and community involvement and expression of the applicant's faith.

Pastor Mary Zimmer, Coordinator for the Parish stated, "these scholarships were made possible through gifts from individuals and United Methodist Churches within Calhoun County."

"The scholarships recognize and support our youth and their openness in being servants of Christ, which continues to be an important and exciting ministry for the Parish," says Zimmer.
