Virginia Catherine "Ginny" Bowen, 84

Virginia Catherine "Ginny" Bowen, 84, of Plattsburg, NY, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, in Powhatan Nursing Home, Falls Church, VA, after a short illness.

She was born Tuesday, July 17, 1923, at Walton, a daughter of the late Willie M. Hively and the late Nora M. Lowe Hively Sparr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Ray Bowen, Sr., September 21, 2002; stepfather, George Sparr; brother, Ernest L. "Uncle Bud" Hively; sisters, Ruby Steele, Beulah Mae Shiltz and Freda Hively.

Ginny was a homemaker, mother and "mom mom." She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and bowling.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Harold Sharland of Falls Church, VA and Martha and Jimmy Yeako of Millsboro, DE; son, Harry Ray Bowen of Plattsburgh, NY; four grandchildren, Patricia, Michele, Arthur and Virginia; two great grandchildren, Melanie and Ryan.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held Saturday, May 3 at 10:30 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Garry L. Bowen officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
