CCCOA WILL OPEN MINNORA PROPERTY BIDS MONDAY

(04/26/2008)
The old Minnora school building and gym on 3.29 acres is for sale by the Calhoun County Committee on Aging.

Director Mike Ritchie has put the property out for bid, last Thursday being the final day for bidding.

Ritchie said the agency has received three sealed bids, which will be opened at Monday evening's board meeting.

"We hope we can recover our investment," said Ritchie.

The CCCOA carved off some ground to build a new senior center, after purchasing the property from the Calhoun Commission for $50,000 in 2005.

The commission sold the property after the Minnora Community Center gave the property back to the county when they were having problems paying their liability insurance.

The Calhoun Commission had given a 99-year-lease to the community center.

The CCCOA had paid $400 a month rent to the Minnora Community Center to operate senior services out of the building.
