STATE GOP HEAD MCKINNEY WILL CHAIR 'CALHOUN CONVENTION'- "WV GOP In Existence In Danger"

(04/26/2008)
West Virginia Republican Party Chairman Doug McKinney will chair a meeting of Calhoun Republicans, Thursday, May 8 at 6 p.m. in the Little Court Room of the Calhoun County Court House.

McKinney called the meeting to have a county convention to select new members for the Calhoun County Executive Committee and to elect delegates to the WV State Convention to be held in Flatwoods on June 28.

Attendees at the state convention will vote on national committee members as well as determining the 2008 party platform.

All Republicans and interested people are invited to attend, says Gaylen Duskey.

Dr. McKinney gave a dire warning to state Republicans this week, saying "If contributions do not increase, the only way the WV-GOP can avoid deficit spending is by dissolving the party in West Virginia."

The party just erased a six-figure debt.

"The WV-GOP is in danger of ceasing to exist if we do not get more financial support..." McKinney said, "If they want to see Republican ideals flourish in West Virginia, they're going to have to start coughing up some money. It's that simple."
