(04/24/2008)
A Roane County man is one of two victims killed when a drilling rig collapsed in Upshur County, April 17.

Charles Keith Estep, 27, of Looneyville, Roane County, and Kenneth James Nottingham, 26, of Weston, Lewis County, died in the accident, according to Roxanne Harlow of the S.W. Jack Drilling Co.

Sue Barazi, of the Occupational, Safety and Health Administration, said Monday, the investigation is ongoing and information will be released to the public when it becomes available.

The gas well was owned by KeySpan and the two men were employed by S.W. Jack Drilling Co. of Buckhannon which was contracted to drill the well.

The rig apparently collapsed on the workers, according to authorities.

A crane had to be called to the scene to help remove the equipment.
