WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - WV Teacher Holds-Up Bank

(04/24/2008)
BANK ROBBER WAS SCHOOL TEACHER - Police say a Kanawha County middle school teacher helped her brother rob at least two banks, including one Monday in Barboursville.

Melissa April Brown, 28, and Jeremy Mark Brown, 24, have been arrested after allegedly robbing First Sentry Bank along Merrits Creek Road on Monday

The complaint says Jeremy Brown entered the bank, gave a teller a note indicating he had a gun, and left with about $4,257.

He allegedly fled in a car driven by his sister and the two were captured a short time later when they were slowed by congestion at a construction site on Interstate 64.

The pair have reportedly implicated themselves in the April 15 robbery of a Charleston bank, said Sgt. Steve Cooper of the Charleston Police Department, and are also under investigation for an April 1 bank robbery in St. Albans.

The Kanawha County schools website says, Melissa Brown is a teacher at Stonewall Jackson Middle School, earning $31,556 a year.

DUNBAR DRIVE-BY SHOOTING - Kanawha County sheriff's deputies were called to the Fairlawn Mobile Home Park off Route 25, after shots were fired.

"Deputies found evidence at the scene where six gunshots had been fired, possibly from a passing vehicle," said a press release.

"Four of the bullets actually entered the victim's trailer. No one was injured or struck by any of the bullets."

The victim, a 56-year-old female who police did not identify, was inside the trailer.
