BUCHANAN SAYS E-911 ADDRESSING-MAPPING "AHEAD OF SCHEDULE"

(04/16/2008)

Calhoun E-911's Director Gary Buchanan and Doug McKenzie
demonstrate the process of placing addressing and mapping
on a computer program to E-911 Advisory Board members.

911 Director Gary Buchanan said four of Calhoun's zip codes, including Grantsville, is complete, with at least four more in-county ZIP codes to be completed.

There are about seven other ZIP codes that have addresses in other counties, but serve small sections of Calhoun with phone service.

"The addressing-mapping is ahead of schedule," Buchanan said.

He reported to advisory board members that the center is "now protected from lightning as good as it gets," with the installation of lightning rods and surge protectors on every piece of equipment.

The center was struck by lightning last year, damaging most of the equipment in the building.
