REGISTER NOW FOR FAMILY STORYTELLER PROGRAM

(04/14/2008)
The Family Storyteller program is an educational program using children's literature and is built upon the idea of family literacy and parent involvement.

There is magic in books. In this program children can meet a blue horse…dine with a very hungry caterpillar…find a lost duckling…ride on a musical bus.

The goal of the Family Storyteller program is to enrich parent and child interaction and the home environment. The curriculum is designed to stimulate verbal interaction, create an interest in reading, encourage parent-child reading and provide access to reading materials. A secondary goal is to help strengthen the relationship between parent and child.

The program will be available during Energy Express this summer at Calhoun Middle-High School for 6 Mondays (June 23, 30, July 7, 14, 21, 28) from 10 a.m. to noon. Each week features a different take-home book, fun activities, and lunch will be provided. Instrutors are Grace Richards, Edna Robinson, and Pat Radabaugh.

The program is for children ages 3 to 5 years, older siblings may attend. Parent or caregiver must attend with children.

Call soon to register, the program is limited to 10 families.
