GRANTSVILLE SEWER PROJECT ON AGENDA

(04/12/2008)
A number of items voted upon and reviewed during the March meeting of the Grantsville town council.

Tim Meeks of MOVRC relinquished the floor to Vince Collins of Steptoe & Johnson, who asked the council to consider and act upon a proposed bond ordinance providing for the issuance of its Sewer System Design Revenue Bonds.

During a public hearing on the matter, House of Delegate candidate Larry Cottrell inquired of the need for the upgrade, with the response being that 4-5 lift stations were in need of replacement.

Following the 3rd reading of the bond ordinance, the motion carried unanimously.

The council approved several invoices related to the project, following invoices: Steptoe & Johnson $5000.00; Huntington Banks $500.00; Thrasher Engineering $1,290.00.

Phil Simmons of Thrasher Engineering gave a brief update on the sewer system, saying the design is 95% complete.

Citizens Dustin Simmons and Bradley Carpenter appeared, asking for help and ideas for skateboarding in the community. The town has banned skateboarding.

Helen Morris stated young people must be willing to work together and raise money. Mayor Knight said he would write a personal letter of endorsement for a skateboarding project.

Recorder Johnson stated she was working on the 2008-09 Fiscal Budget.

Town Improvement Committee said three flags will be placed in the triangle, WV, USA and county flag.

The committee is working on getting trash containers and benches.
