CHARGES MADE IN $40,000 BRAXTON B&E CASE - Burnsville Residents Arrested

A three month in-depth investigation by the Braxton County Sheriff's Department has ended with four people being charged, according to the Braxton Citizen News.

The investigation began in February following 12 breaking and enterings in the Burnsville area. and involving residences in the edge of Lewis and Gilmer Counties.

Officers have said that an estimated $40,000 in merchandise has been stolen, most of which was allegedly traded for drugs.

A trail of stolen guns led police to the residence of Martin Craig Cogar and his wife Silvia Jean, where they discovered a large cache of guns, illegal drugs and paraphernalia.

The Cogars have been charged with 10 counts of possession with the intent to deliver.

Also charged, Haley Stump and Thomas Shaw, with 10 felony counts each of possession with the intent to deliver and conspiracy. Stump was also charged with being a felon in possession of a fire arm.

Also charged in the breaking and enterings is Tim Curry of Burnsville, operator of Curry's Convenience Store and Pawn. He was charged with receiving and transferring stolen property and possession of stolen property.

Travis Cook and Lena Lunceford of Burnsville face similar charges.
