Are you a diabetic? Are you a family member or caretaker of someone who is a diabetic? There are approximately 20.8 million children and adults living with diabetes in the United States.

Though an individual either has Type I or Type II diabetes, each patient care plan is different. To help you better understand the in and outs of this disease and its side effects, Minnie Hamilton Health System would like to invite you to join our monthly Diabetes Support Group.

The meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Minnie Hamilton Health System education room. Each month, we discuss a different topic including medication, chronic diseases, weight loss, etc.

The meeting is facilitated by Community Outreach Coordinator Barb McKown. Often a guest speaker who specializes in a certain subject is invited to speak. All participants will receive literature and free materials to assist in their individual care plan.

The next Diabetes Support Group meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 6 p.m. in the MHHS Education Room. The topic for the evening will be Stride into Spring, a program on the benefits of walking.
