William Gifford Marks, 67 - Mt. Zion

William Gifford Marks, 67, of Mt. Zion, West Virginia, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

He was born December 3, 1940 in Calhoun County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Hannah Slider Marks. He was a farmer who loved hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years Eva Basnett Marks; a daughter, Debbie Murphy and her husband Jim of Mt. Zion; a son, William Daniel Marks and his wife Stacy of Mt. Zion; brother, Gordie Marks of Harrisville, WV; 3 sisters, Waneta Helmick of Clinton, Ohio, Marie Adkins of Doylestown, Ohio, and Lorraine Myers of Mt. Zion; 1 granddaughter, Deva Murphy Wooden of Martinsville, Virginia; 2 grandsons, Quentin Murphy and Danny Marks both of Mt. Zion; one great grandson, Hendrix Hardman of Mt. Zion. He has a great granddaughter, Zoey Wooden on the way; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hannah Slider Marks in 1991, his father, Ernest Marks in 2000; 2 brothers, Foster Marks in 1980 and Alva Starcher in 2005.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, WV. Rev. Carl Marks will officiate. Interment will be in the Blackshire Cemetery near Big Bend.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 12-noon until time of services Sunday.
