The FBI has issued a second global alert for a terrorist attack within the week. The 1092nd Engineers, Spencer Detachment, remains on high alert as do nearly all West Virginia agencies.

Amy Goodwin, spokeswoman for Gov. Bob Wise said "We have remained on a heightened state of security in West Virginia" since September 11. She said certain security measures have been in place at particular facilities and will not be removed.

1092nd National Guard unit on high alert

The 1092nd National Guard unit, stationed at the armory along U.S. 33-119 in Spencer is manned by numerous Calhoun residents.

The FBI has identified at least a half-dozen cells in the United States associated with bin Landen's alQaida terrorist network.

West Virginia during the past few days is organizing its Homeland Security system.
