PADGETT YOUTH DIES FROM INJURIES RECEIVED IN 2-CAR COLLISION

A 16-year-old Orma teen has died from trauma he suffered late Saturday night in a two-car collision south of Chloe on Rt. 16.

Joey Padgett, a former Calhoun High School student, suffered head trauma and has been in critical condition since the accident.

Padgett was one of three occupants in one of the vehicles, all admitted to Charleston Area Medical Center early Sunday.

Phillip Marks, about 34, of Orma, listed as Padgett's step-father, reportedly suffered head trauma. He was still under evaluation in ICU Sunday night, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Janice Marks of Orma, Padgett's mother, was also under evaluation in the same facility.

Sgt. Jeff Skidmore of the Grantsville Detachment said the driver of the other vehicle was Cody Clark, 16, of Chloe. Skidmore indicated there was a 17-year-old youth in the Clark vehicle, apparently uninjured.

Clark reportedly did not sustain serious injuries.

Sgt. Skidmore said the investigation is continuing, with charges pending.
