CALHOUN TEEN IN CRITICAL CONDITION - Police Continuing Investigation Two Car Collision

A 16-year-old Orma, Calhoun teen is suffering from severe head trauma he received in a two car collision about midnight Saturday, south of Chloe on State Rt. 16.

Sunday evening, a spokesperson for CAMC said Joe Padgett "is in critical condition" in ICU.

Padgett was one of three occupants in one of the vehicles, all admitted to Charleston Area Medical Center early Sunday.

Phillip Marks, about 34, of Orma, listed as Padgett's step-father, reportedly suffered head trauma. He was still under evaluation in ICU. according to a hospital spokesperson.

Janice Marks of Orma, Padgett's mother, was still under evaluation Sunday night at CAMC.

Sgt. Jeff Skidmore of the Grantsville Detachment said the driver of the other vehicle was Cody Clark, 16, of Chloe. Skidmore indicated there was a 17-year-old youth in the Clark vehicle, apparently uninjured.

Clark was reportedly taken to Minnie Hamilton Health System by private auto, where he was evaluated.

Sgt. Skidmore said the investigation is continuing, with charges pending.

Both Padgett and Clark are students at Calhoun High School.

Padgett was flown to Charleston Area Medical Center by HealthNet following the crash near Stinson Grocery.

Calhoun EMS transported Phillip Marks to Minnie Hamilton Health System in Grantsville and he was life-flighted by chopper to CAMC later Sunday morning.

Janice Marks was taken to CAMC by a Clay County ambulance, called to accident scene for mutual assistance.

The Upper West Fork VFD also responded to the scene.
