GRANTSVILLE'S TENNIS COURT COULD BE RESURFACED - February Actions By Council

A summary of action taking place in Grantsville's February town council meeting.

- Mayor Knight presented the agreement between Loren Howley and the Town of Grantsville as attorney of record for the water project, approved.

- The Grantsville police report for January included 24 traffic stops, 13 warnings, and 11 citations.

- Dustin Simmons and Bradley Carpenter addressed the council asking for an area to be used for skate boarding. The council passed an ordinance prohibiting skateboarding in most areas of the town.

- There was approval of a second reading of the Sanitary Bond Ordinance.

- Vacation policy was discussed by Recorder Helen Johnson, who noted that vacation will be scheduled by seniority. Any employee with more than 10 years employment will be required to take 2 vacation days per quarter. Those changes approved.

- Town Improvement Committee - In conjunction with the county commission the county, state and national flags will be installed in the traffic triangle.

- Complaints of dogs, water standing in the streets, street condition in front of old high school. The town will put cold mix in the holes in front of the old high school.

- Council member Cain reported a grant application in the amount of $7500.00 ($5000.00 from SSSJ and $2500.00 in donated labor) for the resurfacing of the Grantsville tennis court would be submitted by February 20, 2008.

- Council approved a second reading of an ordinance for the town related to automobile safety belt usage.

- Helen Jordan presented her findings concerning recycling for the town, made a motion for adoption, with no second, the action died.

- Loretta Stevens made a motion to accept the 2nd reading of the Bond Ordinance Authorizing the Design of Certain Extensions, Additions, Betterments and Improvements to Existing Public Sewerage Facilities, approved.
