Billy Gene Richards, 67 - Norman Ridge

Billy Gene Richards, 67, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 25, 2008, from his earthly home on Norman Ridge after a courageous battle against cancer.

He was born March 23, 1940 on Norman Ridge, Calhoun County, West Virginia, the son of the late Mack and Gearldine Taylor Richards. He was a member of Norman Ridge Fairview United Methodist Church, a devout Christian, having worked in the oilfields and retiring from Sav-A-Tool.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Dorothy Louise Richards; two sons, Billy Joe and Darrell Richards; two daughters, Patricia Richards and Angela Dye; son-in-law, Patrick Dye; and two grandchildren, Elijah and Aleah Dye, his pride and joys.

He is also survived by four sisters, Loraine Pursley, Isabelle Davis, Hazel Gribble and Margaret Wagoner along with several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two infant children, Carl Ray and Sherry Ann Richards; as well as nine sisters, Rosalea Davis, Goldie L. Richards, Clara B. Richards, Irene B. Richards, Pauline Jones, Yetta Webb, Thressie Graham, Hettie Beatty, Alice Richards; also five brothers, Mack Richards Jr., Shirdie Richards, Bernard Richards, Desmoin Richards and Denver Richards.

Funeral services were held, Saturday, March 1 at Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville, WV, with Pastor Randy Wilson officiating. Burial was in Hunt Cemetery on Norman Ridge.
