GILMER ADVANCES TO SECTIONALS - Defeats Calhoun County 76-41

In the early minutes of play it looked as though the game could have gone either way.

By midway through the second quarter Gilmer County seized control of the court and maintained a sizable lead, soundly defeating Calhoun County 76-41, Tuesday evening.

Gilmer's James Farley led all scorers with 25 points. Teammate William Radcliff added 14, Daniel DuLude added 12.

Calhoun County's Andrew Norman led his team with 18; Justin Gerwig and Chuck Kendall had nine apiece.

Gilmer's coach Steve Shuff praised the team following the game.

"These kids have done a really great job," he said.

Shuff, in his ninth year as head coach, offered no predictions heading into the sectional finals Friday, 7 p.m., at Wirt County High School in Elizabeth.
