DESTROYED ROANE CHURCH RISES FROM ASHES

(02/25/2008)
It has been one year since the People's Baptist Church in Roane County burned to the ground.

Yesterday, there was a celebration of a new church at a new location.

The congregation spent the last year turning a former machine repair shop into their new house of worship.

The church never stopped worshiping and never lost a member, according to Pastor Darrin Cale. They now have 35 more members than they did a year ago.

The old church was 112 years old. It was located at the intersection of Egypt Ridge and Triplett Road.

Investigators blame the fire on electrical problems.
