Three things you can count on at the Fox Family Festival down on Sycamore,
fresh apple butter from the kettle, melt-in-your-mouth "pig" straight from the
slow smoldering pit and lots of hospitality.
With spells of sunshine and spitting snow over burning outdoor fires, or a
relaxing sit-down before the Fox fireplace, the delicious country cookin'
tasted even better.
Tom Fox and his wife Dawn have enjoyed Calhoun for over 30 years, Tom
having served as the local Conservation Officer through many of them. He
said "I just never wanted to leave," after he was assigned here by DNR. "It
has been a wonderful place to raise my family."

Tom and Dawn's three boys and their families helped with the event, Russ
and Jay live in Huntington and Matt in DC. Missing this year was Tom's dad,
79-year-old Walter Fox of Belle, who recently had open heart surgery.
Visiting Russ Fox in Huntington, and along for the ride to Sunny Cal, was
Peter Bruderer of Switzerland, who is visiting a few weeks in America. "I
really love America and like coming to Calhoun County," he said.

Lots of good food spread 'cross the tables
The Fox's had a rather large assortment of folks attending their annual event
yesterday, but the most notable was Tom and Dawn's families.
Tom said "The people of Calhoun have been really good to us." They do not
expect to leave.
