12-YEAR-OLD BRAXTON BOY DEAD FROM ACCIDENTAL GUNSHOT

A 12-year old boy is dead after his younger brother accidentally shot him over the weekend.

Funeral services are scheduled Thursday in Flatwoods for Samuel Colton Westfall, age 12.

The accident happened at the family's home at Exchange in Braxton County.

State Police say the six-year-old boy found a hunting rifle, and accidentally shot the youth. Their mother was at home at the time.

The victim died later at a hospital in Morgantown.

State Police are still investigating.

Samuel was a sixth grade student at Braxton County Middle School and was an avid hunter and sportsman.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 21, at Stockert-Gibson Funeral Home, Flatwoods, with the Rev. John Verton officiating. Burial will be in Westfall-Trinity Hill Cemetery, at Exchange.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Friends and neighbors will hold a Music Benefit on Sunday, March 2 to help with expenses incurred during the Westfall's time of loss.

The event will be held at the Braxton County Middle School from 1 to 6 p.m.

Bands include Mountain Fury, Douglas Brothers, Short Time, Flashback, Beau McMillion and Co., and Chad Gibson. Activities include 50-50 drawings, a quilt raffle, food, and door prizes.
