CALHOUN STUDENTS ILL WITH RESPIRATORY AND STOMACH PROBLEMS

(02/19/2008)
The flu bug and sundry respiratory and stomach illnesses have arrived in Calhoun and the region.

"Lots of students got sick Monday and had to go home," said Calhoun Middle-High School assistant principal Carla Taylor.

In addition to respiratory problems, many of the students had bouts of vomiting and diarrhea.

School attendance has been affected the past several days.

West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky has joined 43 other states reporting widespread, documented cases.

People in local workplaces and in stores have been reporting illnesses for about two weeks.

A lot of people report having the flu, but many of them actually have a stomach virus, also going around.
