SERVICES MONDAY FOR ROANE MAN KILLED IN HALLIBURTON WRECK

Funeral services are scheduled Monday for Gary D. Nicholson, 23, of Newton, Roane County.

Nicholson was killed Friday when a Halliburton truck wrecked on Rt. 36 in Clay County. He was a passenger in the truck.

Authorities indicated speed was likely a factor in the accident.

Police say that Scott Burgess was driving a truck filled with liquid Nitrogen on West Virginia State Route 36 when he lost control.

The highway was closed for several hours while crews cleaned up the mess.

Nicholdson was a 2002 graduate of Roane County High School.

He was the son of Ed and Sarah Snyder Nicholson.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiancee, Kacie Smith of Newton; his daughter, Mahailey Nicholson; one sister, Jodi Nicholson of Spencer; and his grandparents, Charles and Helen Snyder and Jewell Nicholson, all of Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harry C. Nicholson.

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer.
