An ice cold second quarter was the big difference as Doddridge posted a 66-40 victory over visiting Calhoun Tuesday night.

In the second quarter the Bulldogs outscored the Red Devils 20-1 - the only points coming on a free throw by Harold McCumbers - to break open what was a relatively close game. After that the Red Devils battled the bigger Bulldogs on mostly even terms.

Sophomore Justin Gerwig led the Red Devils, 0-18, with 19 points and seven rebounds.

Andrew Norman added 17 points and five rebounds holding his own on the boards against a Doddridge team that featured inside players 6-6 and 6-4. Overall Doddridge had a 30-23 rebounding advantage.

The rest of the Red Devils came up with four points - three by Chuck Kendall and McCumbers' free throw.

Tyler Bennett, Greg Myers, Anthony Richards and Daniel Sims all played but did not score.

The Bulldogs also won the junior varsity game by a 71-18 score.

Sims led the 0-16 Red Devils with nine points while Myers added five. Kendall had two and Jordan Panarello and Quentin Murphy one each. Bennett, Richards, Cai Clothier, Dennis Dye, McCumbers and Stuart Fitzwater all played but did not score.

Calhoun returns to action Friday night with a doubleheader at home against Wirt County.
