CALHOUN MIDDLE GIRLS BEAT SPENCER 37-16

Calhoun Middle School basketball went on the road and defeated Spencer 37-16 Tuesday.

Scoring for CMS was Amber Wilford 12, Savannah Church 7, Kenzie Laughlin 6, Brittany Norman 4, Rochelle Gerwig 3, Tanie Cain and Chelsea Heery 2, and Shayla Arnold 1.

Balie Cain and Carlena Craddock played but did not score.

On the following night, CMS traveled to Clay County for a rematch of a last week loss by 19.

Clay County came out once again hot and jumped all over CMS early by outscoring CMS 14-4 in the first quarter, 27-12 at the end of the half.

CMS came out at the half with tough defense and cut the lead to as low as 8 in the third quarter, outscoring Clay 11-9.

In the fourth, Clay stepped up and outscored CMS A-team 10-4 to defeat CMS 46-27. Scoring for CMS A-team was Savannah Church with 11, Kenzie Laughlin 8, Amber Wilford and Tangie Cain added 4.

Rochelle Gerwig and Chelsea Heery played but did not score.

CMS B-team was leading at the half by two, and only down by three at the end of the third, but came up short by a loss of 31-22.

Scoring for CMS B-team was Shayla Arnold 11, Brittany Norman 7, Carlena Craddock and Baile Cain added 2.

Madison Munson, Ali Gumbarevic, Autumn Smith, Hannah Burris, and Monica Wilson all played but did not score.

CMS, A-team now 8-5, will play the final three games, Monday against Gilmer County, Tuesday against Doddridge County, and Thursday against Ritchie County.

All three games are home.
