SCHOOL BOARD WILL ADDRESS ELEVEN RETIREMENT REQUESTS - Volunteer Policy On Agenda

The Calhoun Board of Education will be discussing policy changes related to volunteer coaches and school volunteers in general Monday at their meeting starting at 7 p.m.

The board is expected to approve six retirement requests for professional staff, all effective in June and July, including Larry D. Harris, Jan K. Jarrell, Patricia A. Propst, Kathreen L. Wood, Debra Talbott Cunningham and Beverly L. Morford.

Service personnel retiring, Nancy J. Taylor, Janet S. Cunningham, Lester K. Channell, Joann Dawson, plus administrator Donald S. Pitts.

- An item of the agenda describes an area of critical need, science and biology, likely related to the pending resignation of teacher Ansel Payne.

- A Mutual Assistance Agreement with the Local Emergency Planning Committee.

- Policy reviews for supplemental pay, lay coaches and incentive pay for early notice of retirement.

- Approval of resignation of Ansel Payne, science teacher, and Brandi Richards, asst. girls basketball coach. Science teacher (biology) job is being posted.
